1. Agatha Christie’s Poirot
It has mystery, elegance and humour. Agatha Christie's Poirot is one of my favourite series, and in July, I rewatched a couple of episodes that feature a summer atmosphere:
- Evil Under the Sun
- Five Little Pigs
- Death on the Nile
- The Mystery of the Blue Train
- Appointment with Death
- Dead Man's Folly
Each episode follows a different mystery, so they can be watched in any order. The casting is remarkable, and very likely you will recognise many actors and actresses.
2. Handheld & Foldable Fan
This affordable, small fan has become my most valuable possession during the recent heatwaves in England. It made my work commute more comfortable, and it can even be used to discreetly dry your clothes and skin in the restroom if you arrive at work a little perspired.
3. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Clay Mask
On the topic of heatwaves, this clay mask becomes a part of my nightly skincare routine during particularly hot and humid weeks. It helps to reduce oiliness and prevent acne. Yet, it's gentle enough to use a couple of days a week.
4. Essie Gel Couture Sheer Fantasy
It’s the perfect sheer, light pink nail polish for a clean and elegant look. I prefer to apply only one layer so that the nail’s free edge stays visible. The final result is somewhere between the trendy soap nails and a French manicure.
The key to a neat result without streaks is thin layers - applying not too much product and doing it quickly - and following it with one layer of Essie gel top coat, which adds shine and airbrushes any unevenness.
Two similar shades I like are Fairy Tailor (more white) and Gossamer Garment (more pink).
5. The New York Handbag in Dark Taupe by DeMellier
I had been looking for a new workbag for a couple of months. Unfortunately, it is difficult nowadays to find an elegant handbag with silver hardware. After a wide search, I came across this one - the New York model by the brand DeMellier.
It fits a 16-inch laptop (just about). It has two small pockets in the lining. The small-grain leather and good-quality hardware make it look professional. I find the taupe colour more suitable for summer than black, and I cannot find a fault with the stitching or the construction.
